River Centre ClinicThe River Centre Clinic was founded in 1996 with a mission to provide specialized and cost-effective treatment for individuals suffering from eating disorders. Our innovative approach to treatment is designed to reduce costs without compromising our high quality of care. We follow a well-established therapy model for treating eating disorders that integrates individual, group, and family therapy. The River Centre Clinic is located in a modern, spacious and tranquil setting in Sylvania, Ohio – a historic suburb of Toledo, Ohio. The facility was designed to provide an attractive, and safe alternative to hospital or hospital-based programs.

Our Treatment ProgramWe recognize that that each patient’s eating disorder is unique and our development of an individualized treatment plan is tailored to meet your specific needs. The plan is based on your input as well as our ongoing assessment of problems and progress. This plan is developed based on the initial assessment, then applied within the framework of evidence-based treatment principles, and periodically revised as changes occur during treatment.
Partial Hospitalization ProgramThe River Centre Clinic’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for adults combines 35 hours per week (5 days a week, 7 hours a day) of partial hospitalization treatment with the option of independent living arrangements in dormitory-style rooms in or near the main facility. The PHP is the most appropriate level of care for the vast majority of women and men who suffer from serious eating disorders. It provides a higher level of structure and support than is possible during outpatient treatment, but is also an effective, safe, and economical alternative to inpatient treatment.
Adolescent Residential ProgramRiver Centre Clinic’s Adolescent Residential Program (ARP) is available for children and adolescents up to 17 years old and offers 24-hour care, 7 days a week. The Adolescent Residential Treatment Program offers a high level of intensity, structure, safety, and monitoring that is necessary for many adolescents with eating disorders. Program participants live in colorful, well-appointed rooms with one, two, or three other roommates and are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Intensive Outpatient Program for Binge Eating DisorderThe River Centre Clinic’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is 4 hours a day, 3-5 days-a-week, specifically designed for people with Binge Eating Disorder (BED). BED is characterized by eating abnormal amounts of food while feeling unable to stop and is sometimes referred to as “compulsive overeating.” Our IOP includes the opportunity for low cost or free independent living (depending on the space availability) so that people from outside of our local community have the opportunity to receive the specialized care that they need.
CARF AccreditationThe River Centre Clinic (RCC) was awarded a three-year accreditation renewal by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in December 2015. The three-year accreditation is the longest period awarded by CARF and reflects the RCC commitment to meeting the unique needs of each person served. This accreditation indicates that the RCC has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.
